While in Norway, we went out of our way to stay in a beautiful farmhouse. The owner, Sigurd, grew up on the farm and could tell us about his childhood there, sharing photogaphs of life on the farm over the last hundred years. Over breakfast, we discussed our interests and discovered that he had studied under a Norwegian philosopher that I love during his time as a student in Oslo. Our conversation was warm and fascinating.
